Learning

Zack loves to learn -- he constantly wants to do ALL of his reading flash cards over and over, wants to read his books, watch his Your Baby Can Read videos, color ( and he does have to be supervised or he colors other things) and learning new signs. He creatively plays with his toys! But, I admit he does love watching Elmo and Max and Ruby. I am so glad that he loves learning as much as Ben and I love teaching him. We are also looking forward to doing things like this with Zack's new sibling that's due around July 30Th.

They say that the 95% of the mind develops between birth to five years develop and that their brains are like a sponge; It's so true. So as parents we NEED to find that balance between teaching, cherishing, and playing so that they grow up to be intelligent, responsible, honorable, contented adults.

Recently, I've noticed a lot of Mom's bragging about their gifted children, or that their child is better "because . . . " Sometimes, it makes me feel like I'm not doing enough -- so, how do you find that peace in yourself about balancing his emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs and still have time for household chores and yourself? One of the things I've had to do is just tune out the other Mom's. I'm doing what is best for my boy and for our family.

I think one of the most important things I can teach Zack is to be kind, sweet and respectful towards his family and those he comes in contact with and to work hard!
