MOBILITY!

Our life has become a little more interesting. Little Zackary has started to become mobile!

It started with learning to roll from his stomach to his back. That was exciting for him because he did not like to be stuck on his stomach. Then he also learned to go from the back to the stomach. This combination started allowing him to roll around.

He also discovered that he liked being on his stomach after all because he started being able to lift himself up higher. Along with lifting himself up, either the front end or the back end but not both at once yet, he started to be able to scoot around. This added ability allowed him to move around the room to different toys.

For instance here he is reaching for one of his new friends (of course another monkey)

This new position also gives him a whole new perspective on one of his favorite toys.

And even stretching things a bit farther as a true overachiever might, we make sure there is plenty of practice standing too. Of course he has to hold on to something (or usually have someone hold him), and what better way to hold onto something than with your mouth?!

All this new-found mobility is nice, but it is also still very hard. It is a lot of work just to get across the blanket to a new toy. The best way to get around is still by using Daddy.

face states it all

I think the face states it all -- He does not particularly care for rice cereal. I understand that it is the first step into the wonderful world of solids, so I will just keep trying until his resolve to dislike it changes or I melt by his sweet smiles and give him bananas!

Time to Eat!

We have started giving Little Zackary some solid foods. First we assembled his new high chair. I think he looks good in it. We feed him some food as we are eating dinner ourselves. He always gets excited.

Of course he likes to take his spoon himself.

One of the cutest parts is the little colored goatee that he
a
lways gets from his food.

He is learning to use a sippy cup also.

Of course, as many young ones progress, Zackary would like to move on to even more solid food. This bean is one of the few out of the garden.

New Sleeping Position!

Our little Zackary has learned to roll over. Not only does this add to his mobility, but he has also developed a new favorite sleeping position. Whether it be in his bed or on the floor, he likes to be bottom up. He also tends to push his head into the corner. Although I think he's the most adorable creature on earth, this new sleeping position does scare me a bit.

A Family Visit

A few weeks ago I had the *gulp* privilege of hosting my in-laws for nearly 2 weeks. They are a wonderful family and I just feel so blessed to be a part of them. They love all things ice cream, camping and are hard-working, honest good people. But, I had to cook for them for that time period. Well, I muddled by and fixed a few of Ben's new favorites. Although, I think maybe I am going to set up a digital cookbook, so it is easier to just look up the favorites, print them up and cook!

Zack had a great time getting to know his Grandpa Ipson better, he seemed to have the magic touch and got this little guy to just laugh all the time. He's a wonderful grandpa. 2 days after their departure we headed out to Bumpus Family reunion. Life has been hectic this summer and I will discuss all of it in future blogs. I just wanted to share how blessed I feel to be a part of the Ipson family. I love them all!

To the left is Zacky and his grandpa Ipson, what a lucky boy to be so loved and to have inherited his Grandpa's beautiful blue eyes.
